Annika Egan Sjölander

Annika Egan Sjölander is a Senior Lecturer in Media and Communication Studies at Umeå University. Her thesis Kärnproblem. Opinionsbildning i kärnavfallsdiskursen i Malå (Core Issues. Opinion Formation in the Nuclear Waste Discourse in Malå) from 2004 is an application of Michael Foucault’s discourse analytical perspective. In 2009 she was a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Lancaster, UK and part of the Language-Ideology-Power group led by Professor Ruth Wodak. Several of her research projects have dealt with dimensions of democracy and the role of the media concerning environmental issues such as radioactive waste, chemicals and biofuels.
